Eagle Watch

There’re back, the magnificent Bald Eagles have returned to winter in the Quad

Cities.  Approximately 250 Bald Eagles return every year to the Quad Cities are

to nest and feed along the banks of the Mississippi River.

To help us understand more about the beautiful Bald Eagles the Army Corps of

Engineers have put together a wonderful 45-minute program that explains why

the Bald Eagles return to this area, what their habits, needs and abilities are.  The

program will take place at the Mississippi Valley Welcome Center on Saturday

and Sunday, January 21st & 22nd.  Saturday’s presentations are held at 10:00 am,

11:00 am and 12:00 pm, Sunday’s at 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

The Corps Rangers will help us spot eagles near Lock & Dam #14 in LeClaire Returning

this year is a spectacular performance by Native American Kickapoo Indians performing

a sacred “Eagle Dance” that is very important to the culture of The Kickapoo Tribe.

We encourage you to join us for this free program, seating is limited, so come early.

We hope to see you Saturday or Sunday, dress warm and bring your binoculars.
